Sales people play a crucial role in helping companies increase sales and make profit. Sales people are an important part of the company as they not only help to increase the sales but also portray the image to the outsiders. The customers perceive and make an image of the company based on their interaction and experience of the sales people.

Having essential tools and marketing elements can make sales people more enthusiastic and possessed to become successful. Some of elements and tools, I have tried to explain here.

  1. Business cards: Getting a business name in the marketplace is the biggest challenge faced by marketers. Effective business cards help to overcome this challenge. Sales people should always carry a business card as it is the takeaway that people will have even after they have ended the conversation. A well designed and well printed business card helps in creating lasting impression in the mind of customers.

  1. Online presentation: Sales people can encounter potential customers at any point in time and they must be well prepared to tackle such situations. They should be well aware about the company and its products and ideally should always have access to the presentation or preferably a video presentation about the company and its products. Having the presentation can be helpful to pitch more sales and gain the trust of the customers.

  1. Set specific target: Successful sales people should be ambitious and they should have a specific target in their mind. They should set the goals and the goals should not be vague, instead they should be specific and measurable. For example: the goal should not be defined as ‘to be a good salesperson’. Instead they should make a specific target, ‘to be among the top 10 sales people of the company in a stipulated time’. If the goals are defined it becomes easier to define the path.

  1. Should narrate compelling stories: Customers are less interested in knowing the features of the products but are more interested in knowing its benefits for their business. A successful sales person understands this and will share the experiences or testimonials of the previous satisfied customers rather than describing the details of the product. They should be able to convince the customer that by using the product they will get the desired results.

  1. Should have good networking skills: Building good rapport and networks can prove to be the boon for a sales person. They need to be professional as well as friendly while talking to the customers. They should be able to build a relationship of trust while interacting with the customer. Having good networks can help to fetch more sales and deals.

  1. Build rapport with Rapportive: This app is of great use in creating good rapport with the customer while initiating the first conversation. Rapportive displays details about the contact like picture, position in the company and links to social media pages inside the Gmail box. Gaining valuable information about the customer can help to target the email more efficiently and get a favorable response.

  1. Set up routes with Maptive: Sales people are generally in the market and they have to travel to multiple places in a stipulated time period. Maptive can be very useful in managing the route by creating useful maps. It is based on Google maps and enables the user to build sales territory and create sales route. It helps in representing the data visually as it allows adding customer data while creating territories.

  1. Manage tasks with Any.do: A sales person has to meet multiple people and is included in multiple tasks during the entire day. It is very crucial to organize the day in order to enhance productivity. Andy.do helps to create to do lists, set reminders and also includes voice transcription. It works well with the Gmail interface and can also allow you to set the reminder inside Gmail.

  1. Track leads with Sidekick: Tracking the customers is one of the toughest tasks for the customers. By tracking the customers sales people can gain insights about the behavior of the customer. Sidelick gives real time updates when the prospects click and open the emails. Such notifications are very useful for mapping the leads which enhances productivity. It can also be synced with outlook and Gmail for convenient usage.

  1. Provide good customer service: The main focus of a sales person should be the customer and not the sales. Sales people should understand the needs of the customers and deliver in a way that it exceeds the expectation of the customer. Providing good customer service is the key mantra because 80% of business comes from 20% of the customers. Hence, a sales person needs to be an expert in handling the customers.

Sales people play a very crucial role for companies and hence are loaded with lot of tasks. They need to be efficient and proficient in the activities they perform. Multi-tasking and making optimum use of skills and tools can help them in order to thrive in the competitive market.
