Most louvered pergola rankings sort on a score nobody can check. This one sorts on something simpler: which situation each brand is built for, and what it publishes that you can verify before you buy.
Prices in this category run from roughly $30 to $200 per square foot installed, and the products at either end of that range are not doing the same job. The sections below name the situation each brand fits, the figures it publishes, and the one thing worth checking before you sign.
What separates them, in practice
Three figures decide how a louvered roof behaves, and most product pages publish one of them at most.
- Rotation range. Published figures run from 90 degrees at the budget end up to a full 180. Past vertical the blades invert, which changes where light falls and how water leaves.
- Warranty by component. Structure typically runs 10 to 20 years, coating 5 to 15, and the motor and electronics 2 to 5. The last number is the one that gets claimed and the one most often omitted.
- Clear span. Decides whether you end up with a post in the middle of your seating area. Almost nobody publishes it, so it has to be asked.
1. alux
For made-to-order sizes, and the most complete set of published figures here
Ranked first on the measure this article uses, which is how much of the specification a buyer can check before committing. It is the only brand in this comparison that publishes rotation, structure warranty, motor warranty, coating thickness, salt spray hours, UV hours and drainage throughput. Most publish two or three of those. It builds to order instead of to a stocked catalogue, which is what makes odd sizes and non-standard bays possible, and it manufactures under other companies’ brands, so it turns up in supply chains behind names you already know.
Published: rotation 0 to 180 degrees, the widest range in this table. 6063-T5 aluminium. Structure 5 years and motor 3 years, stated separately. Coating is a passivated ZAM base under roughly 80 microns of powder, recorded at 168 salt spray hours and 100 UV hours. Drainage throughput 0.02 to 0.04 litres per second per square metre, a figure only one other brand here states.
Check: the warranty is the shortest in this table. Ask any louvered pergola manufacturer whether five years is a floor or a ceiling, and get the lead time quoted together with the incoterm, since ex-works excludes freight.
2. Azenco R-Blade
For buyers who want the longest terms in writing before they commit
The best warranty in this comparison by a distance, and the rare case where it is split into two numbers on the public page. The blades are dual-walled and close gapless, which is a real answer to the rain question instead of a claim about it.
Published: rotation 0 to 160 degrees. Structure 15 years, motors 5 years. Engineered to 195 mph.
Check: the headline says limited lifetime, the terms say fifteen and five.
3. StruXure
For projects that need a certificate a building department will accept
The widest installer network in the United States and the name most often written into American specifications. If your build needs sign-off, this is the path of least resistance.
Published: rotation up to 155 degrees in StruXure’s own material. ICC certified, 150 mph.
Check: dealer pages frequently quote 170 degrees. Confirm which figure applies to your model.
4. Renson
For buyers who want performance data and will read the conditions
Publishes more measured performance than anyone in the category, including drainage throughput, which almost no competitor states at all. The warranty is equally detailed, which cuts both ways.
Published: wind 120 km/h, load 110 kg per square metre, structure 10 years.
Check: paint drops from 10 years to 5 within 500 metres of the coast, and the 15-year colour warranty requires annual paid maintenance and is void in coastal areas.
5. Equinox
For North American buyers working through a local installer
A long-established louvered roof line with wide dealer coverage. The warranty is worth reading in full, because the certificate and the marketing page do not agree.
Published: the website states 20 years; the warranty card states ten years on louvers, beams, gutters and posts. Power components carry 3 years, parts only. Dual-cell louvers span to 14 feet.
Check: cover runs to the original purchaser and does not transfer with the house.
6. Solisysteme
For European projects where provenance matters
Founded in 1998 and widely credited with starting the bioclimatic pergola category. Origine France Garantie sits behind the manufacturing claim, which is unusually specific for this market.
Published: aluminium 10 years, parts and mechanisms 3 years.
Check: rotation appears as 145 degrees in some material and 160 in others. Get the figure for your model.
7. Louvretec
For anyone who wants the widest opening available
Sells its rotation figure openly, and the 180 Linear name is the specification. That is the top of the published range in this category and it is stated without hedging.
Published: rotation 180 degrees.
Check: this is a licensed fabrication model, so establish who honours a warranty claim in your country before relying on it.
8. Mirador
For the lowest entry price on a ready-to-order kit
Sold through Costco and Amazon at prices well below the engineered end of the market, in fixed sizes. For a standard patio where the size already fits, the value is hard to argue with.
Published: roughly $30 to $60 per square foot installed, 6063-T5 aluminium, fixed catalogue sizes.
Check: warranty length and whether it transfers, since retail terms are usually the shortest here.
9. PurpleLeaf
For a first pergola on a tight budget
Direct-to-consumer kits at the accessible end of the range, sized for standard patios and shipped flat. Expect the specification to be simpler than the engineered brands, because the price reflects it.
Published: rotation on some models is 0 to 90 degrees, which is open and closed with little in between.
Check: the wind rating, and whether the roof is rated with the blades closed.

Four of nine publish a separate figure for the motor. Five do not, and on an adjustable roof that is the part with the shortest service life.
Three questions for whichever you choose
- Can I see the warranty certificate rather than the summary? The certificate is what a claim gets settled from. Equinox is the clearest example of why the two can differ.
- What is the maximum clear span at my snow and wind load? In writing, before the deposit. This is the figure that decides your post positions.
- Who honours the warranty in my country? For imported systems the obligation may sit with the factory, the importer or the installer, and a non-transferable term ends when the house is sold.
Those three answers separate suppliers faster than any ranking does, including this one. Whether you end up with a dealer network, a retail kit or a ALUX-custom pergola manufacturer working direct, the questions do not change.
